Parents should be looking at music classes to help their children be more socially matured. Many schools choose to cut back on music programs nowadays, due to lack of funds. But since the latest research has revealed the importance of music to children's social development, the administrative officers of these schools should rethink their position.
Kids music classes have been proven to increase math solving abilities of children. For some reason music education helps develop children's brains and allows them to understand and fully comprehend math concepts. Today, math is an important element in a child's education.

Naturally shy children are more apt to associate with other children in a music class, and this greatly helps them gain confidence in themselves. Studies have also found that music education can also reduce school violence, and a child's anger.
Developmental Psychologists tell us that there are three categories when it comes to children's social exposure. And these categories are popular, neglected and rejected.
While every child wants to be a part of the popular group, most aren't and either falls in the neglected or rejected group. In the neglected group these children are pretty much ignored by others, but when a child falls into the rejected group then dangers can arise.
When a child is placed in music education at an early age, then his self esteem is already much higher than other children's. He possesses an ability that inspires interest and admiration from other children and this essentially changes his social exposure from the rejected to the popular category. This provides the child a more positive school environment.
Additionally kids music classes are thought to increase IQ levels. Music is a great help for children suffering from speech impediments and those with breathing problems. As parents we are doing a disservice to our children by not exposing them to music education.
Music education is about more than just making a great musician. It is about creating socially adept children, and children who feel good about themselves. It is about developing other important academic skills too.
To summarize, music provides children added social skills, gives them a sense of belonging, enhances brain functions and develop their motor skills too. What more could you want for your child?
