I am by far not a full time SEO specialistbut over the past few years I have discovered that results are based onchange, and change makes your website appear fresh every time it isre-indexed. At this time my company Blue Light Labs has decided to takeon JOOMLA as it's backend striped down SEO system asfar as we have searched for a great open source CMS system JOOMLA hasappeared to be the most robust and has a excellent community attachedto it. Using modules mambots and xml config files we have started tobuild a plug-in specifically to SEO a CMS site. Below are a few noteswe had came up with before starting the project.
I think if we break it down into profiles and individual page insertsit shouldn't be hard to put together - Of course this might turn out tobe more work and time in the short run but allow the SEO specialist todig work their magic.

1. Since quite a few sites including Bluelightlabs.com have a PR 4-3index files in particular directories we need to find a way to mimic orreplace them in Joomla, so control over filename and directory willsave the old sites PR links.

2.Have the sites 404 page repopulate itself with new links once a newpage or local link is defined - I think this is a good fix for brokenlinks that we would otherwise be penalized for.
3. Each time any page is refreshed, it would be nice to run through thefollowing criteria: these criteria could be setup as profiles that areassigned to various dynamic or static reas.
4. Each time a static page or link page is added the sitemap.xml could be updated as well as its various properties
I believe adding 4 small 2px by 200 pix almost background images to theheader that are linkable as well as alt tag-able would help a greatdeal.
Every time a page or content is added we could also have a script runthe Google custom search and re-index the site as everyone knows GOOGLEloves GOOGLE
All local links should have the full url http://www.bluelightlabs.com/ -www and trailing slash.
In the header adding a w link directly to http://en.wikipedia.org next to the first target phrase in the header - It worked awesome with http://www.drapeaugroup.com adding the small w link tohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Information_Technology_Infrastructure_Library this link references the primary word in the phrase that is targeted.
The following meta would be a great template to build in dynamically:- phisical position of business could be a factor when optimizing local sites
- place name- primary page topic- date modified tag- make ajustable for index and default to 14 for all other- language- remove Microsoft junk- this is what the DMOZ looks at Being able to control the header andfooter as well as image ALT tags might be a function particular to thepage and not the profile assigned to it.Building an auto-linkingprofile that can assign internal links to phrases actually found in thecontent would be a benefit.
Other things on the wish listIn the content I have found that randomly scattering and underline tagsaround the major target phrase for the site seems to help tremendously.
Hope this helps anyone
